Our wonderful patron Kenny Atkinson, the ONLY Michelin Starred Chef in Newcastle and his team, will be working with the amazing chefs and front of house young people at Cafe Beam, to create and serve a bespoke ‘5 course menu’ for a limited number of special guests! This Exclusive dining event will be hosted on Thursday 22nd May 2025 at 12.30pm at Cafe Beam, Ouseburn Farm!

Join Team Smile for the Great North Run 2025!

The largest half marathon in the world is back on the 7th September and we are aiming to smash our fundraising target. For the 12 years that our charity has participated in this fantastic event, we have been very fortunate to have had such a dedicated and successful team running with us and raising essential funds to continue supporting disabled and disadvantaged youngsters across the North East!

We are delighted to announce that our annual Smile Ball is returning on the 18th October at the Gosforth Grand Hotel. A fantastic night that celebrates the challenges that are overcame and the feats gained by our Young People. The event is a great opportunity to raise essential funds so that we as a charity can further develop the experiences and skillset’s of our Young People. Further information about tickets will be announced soon so watch this space.

We’d like to say a HUGE thank you to our friends at Rotary Ponteland for their fantastic donation of £3000 following their Christmas fundraising campaign! These funds will help to make such a difference to so many youngsters in our region with disabilities – providing essential equipment, valuable work placements, and amazing experiences! The funds were raised through the hard work of the Rotary Club and the generosity of many members of the public who supported and enjoyed their range of Christmas events – THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

We spent a fantastic day with the team at Nuffield Hospital this Christmas, as they pledged their support to Smile For Life! Our team took along delicious cakes and goodies for their pop up café and joined in with their sponsored row – covering every mile of the length of every lake in the Lake District!!! The Nuffield Choir performed a wonderful Christmas set and a tombola, raffle and book stall added to their amazing fundraising!

Thank you to each and everyone of these lovely people who made us feel so welcome and watch this space for their GRAND TOTAL!

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Autism Awareness At Work Event in the fabulous Harry’s Bar last week – and what an inspirational event it was! Our guest speaker, Phillippa Chaplin, shared her expertise with the audience to help them understand and support colleagues, customers and clients who are on the autistic spectrum and to make our Northeast business community even more inclusive! Our very own James spoke from the heart to tell his emotional story of growing up with autism and how he has overcome so many obstacles to get to where he is now – apprentice chef at Cafe Beam! Watch this space for more events in our quest to improve understanding of autism in our community.

Robyn is a young lady with complex disabilities and health problems. The recent pandemic was especially difficult for Robyn and her family; dealing with a house move whilst in total isolation and months and months of shielding to protect her health, left the whole family desperate for some safe outdoor space in which to get fresh air and excercise for Robyn. Robyn’s mum, Michelle, contacted Smile For Life to ask for help and, together with some amazing volunteers and a generous donation from Charity Supporters Ellis Bates Financial, we were delighted to make her dreams come true. We’d like to give our heartfelt thanks to the following people for helping to make this happen:
